I was wondering where is a good place in the Cary/Raleigh area for Judo. I used to practice Judo for many years as a kid and moved up to yellow belt (in Brazilian Judo which uses the BJJ belt system, so I think here it would have been an Orange belt). However, it has been many many many years and I would like to start again and start from scratch. A lot of places offer SOME judo classes or Judo/BJJ combined classes (like White Tiger TKD in Cary). Anyway, any info on this would be appreciated.

Hello Thiago,

I recommend training at the University of North Carolina Judo Club. They are by far the best judo club in the Raleigh area. The instructor is Bill Cabrera and you can reach him at cabrera3@mindspring.com. If you can’t reach him at that email contact me and I will get his number for you. I don’t know what the summer workout schedule is but they do train in the summer.

Good Luck,

Jason Russell
