Im a 21 y/o 5"8 143 walk around weight fighter(i can cut 134 in very litte time ). i live in the high point greensboro area, looking for a camp to represent in MMA. i have 2 years of high school wrestling expirence at Woodrow Wilson High School Beckley W.V.
3 years of gojo ryu karate. Self trained for the last two years for MMA including extensive jiu jitsu research and application. 800 punch cardio warmup on a heavy bag is not a problem and I am as hungry as i am confident to do well in MMA. I am looking for a trainer and a full time camp.
My financial situation is limited due to the fact i train full time and work part time but i can afford to pay a reasonable fee and i will give the discipline and work ethic of a champion to any trainer who will give me a chance to fight for them.Eagerly awaiting a response

There are several places in that area that are going to be able to train you. I'll go ahead and tell you this though. Forget considering yourself as a "fighter" because you are not. Just go in and train for a while (6-12) months and then the fighting will take care of itself based on where your skills are then.

Nothing irks me more than someone with limited training coming in telling me they want to fight first thing. Not because they will be bad, but they have WAY too high expectations as to where they stand, expectations that get mashed pretty fast when they hit the mat with people who have been training dilligently for a while.

Just go to one of the places near where you live and start training there. dont mention fighting for a while or wait till someone brings it up to you, thats the best way.

What do you consider a reasonable fee for training BTW (that is more a curiousity question).

Shihan Shameek can probably have you ready for a fight in about 45 minutes...give them a call. I hear the first lesson is free.

I am a fighter and whether it irks you or not find an event and a 135lber youve been working for a while and i will show you something to get irked about.sooo please i read your post for your draft and i think the 50$ fee is more than reasonable considering its a standard in all gracie academy affiliates. Do not judge me from an internet post because it irks me that you consider me not to be a fighter because im not 40 years old with a washed up record and having to resort to drafting from forums for $$$$ so with all aggression aside by all means find a local event and a 135er your confident in that came from your camp. AND I WILL WORK HIM.

I am eagerly awaiting a response in regards to you finding a 135er or a 145er that can cut. As for the shock of being on the mat for the first time, i roll with 165 and believe me i have tasted sweat and blood both my partners and my own.For someone speaking of lack of expirence you analyze things a little more cautiously especially if your a trainer or corner man because fueling fire with no water is just a waste of both my time and anyone else that read your criticizing response for my search for a full time training facility to represent. To be great you must first be humble but it will take a better man to humble my heart.

ses, i greatly appreciate your response but i am wondering if what your offering is a full time program or a seminar/quick prep camp. I ask because i am looking for a full time camp and trainer because in the next 3 to 4 monthes giving the right training regiment i plan on taking 3-5 fights a year. Please dont think it is that i feel you wouldnt help my skills in MMA its just what i need is a full time program because i feel it takes a full time schedule to prepare yourself to be at peak condition.again thanks for the response if you offer a full time program in sanford please let me know.

Clearly understood!!! No feelings hurt here.

Cage Dreams is a MMA event scheduled for June 13th in Winston Salem, I am the match maker for that show.......I know that Neal has a 145er that will be fighting this weekend, inside sources tell me that he's pretty good.....The guy he's fighting is no slouch either and It just so happens that I know his coach very well also....I don't have a full time program because I teach at Four different gyms during the month.....but I could get you a fight on Cage Dreams if your really meant what you said above....Your perspective on yourself reminded me of a young fighter that I once trained.....Jason "Mayhem" Miller......I don't know if you're a Fighter, a freedom fighter for equal rights or fighting your inner demons...but I do know that you have what it takes to put butts in seats.......Now I'm eagerly waiting to see if Anyone accepts your challenge.

Good Luck in Journey

SES

First off, you dont read so well, I have NO draft. I commented on the draft on that thread. So you are talking to the wrong person. AS for a humble heart, 1501 Raleigh Rd in Angier NC and I can very, very easily help you learn what the word means, especially if you bring this particular attitude.

You have zero idea how many people I and other gym owners have come in and talk wanting to fight from day one. If even 10% of them had what it took maybe it wouldnt irk me. Maybe you are in the very small minority of people with large expectations, little training or experience who are actually able to cut it. I dont know, I do know talking alot and knowing little is a good way to get roughed up. IF you go to a gym where fighters train with too much of that attitude my prediction is your experiences will be needlessly painful and not as positive as they could be.

I gave you the best roadmap for success, go to a good gym train, put in some time and THEN talk fighting. If you are so ready to fight why not just enter a local event, it sounds to me like you are so good already you dont really need a gym or trainer.

Ses, i am very familiar with jason mayhem miller and i take that as a great compliment because he fights to the bone and if he got that closed guard from you i can imagine your head is seasoned as well . i would greatly like to attend one of your camps and as for the upcoming event i would love to attend as a competitor but of course i would need more information regarding such (fees, required medical documentation etc)
and thank you for giving hope to a fighter new to the sport. and Neal....im not here for tough guy bravado like you say talk is talk...now find me a 135er and as ses said lets fill some seats.

Well you have talked alot so far and never fought........But for you I have no 135'ers. I have some 145'ers, but it would be flat out wrong for you to fight any of those guys at this point. You need more gym time.

Oh and if by some chance you think me helping you learn what humble means in Angier is some sort of bravado, its not. But I am easy to find, and I use my real name, not a made up screen name that give the cover of anonymity.

It sounds to me your taking this more personal than its worth. Im not interested in fighting outside of a cage, Ive had plenty of that and its not what im trying to achieve so please if you dont want to put your 145ers in against me but you say you want to humble me, in any way it sounds like a cop out to have any kind of reasonable resolve to "Your not a fighter" and as far as gym time you do not know me, as a matter of fact of already put together a 3 week fight camp in just the theory of ses matching me with one of your guys, its unfortunate that you feel you know sooo much about me when you know nothing.Or maybe its the fear that someone with an 0-0 record in MMA could completely shut up all this nonsense you keep contradicting. and Ses by all means if you can find me a fight i will be more then happy to take it contrary to angier i am ready and in the mean time i will only be preparing myself to be ever more ready. Neal do not think i am the least intimidated by your 145ers and if i were an onlooker i think its bass ackwards. Ses i thank you for the great oppurtunity and my email account is titan_lung@live.com if at all it doesn't work out because i know the 135 and 145 spot is a tough weight to fill i appreciate all effort.

just wondering neal. is your academy affialiated with team ROC or do your guys just like to advertise for them. Team Roc out of charlotte is probably the gym i will be using for the next 6 monthes giving everthing falls through. Just wondering, has any of your guys fought jim carey?
I know its a probable no, but i would like to have an idea of the level of MMA you compete in.

We are ROC. I have trained with the guys in Charlotte when they came to CRossfit for our ROC training, and chances are if you train with them you will train with us as well. AS for being intimidated by my guys....Not my intent, you are small and inexperienced for them, that's just fact at this point.

The simple fact you are 0-0 is why you are NOT a fighter. Thats not hard to comprehend. But if you for one start using your real name, and two start seeing the advice I gave you (to go to a good gym and give yourself time to train rather than chirp that you are a fighter), I will gladly treat you like a grown up.

There's little if any chance if you train at a ROC you'll ever fight one of my guys, but you will get to train with them and me, then you can decide whether you learn something or not and whether I know what I am talking about or not.

The Ultimate Fighter TV show strikes again! I run into "fighters" every day now. ("I train 'UFC' style") on the streets and coming into my school. The thing is some of these guys may one day be good, but their ego gets ahead of their undeveloped skills. One of the great things about BJJ, MMA and combative sports is the constant reminder of how little you know and how much work you have ahead of you, even as you progress. What Neal is probably aware of is that most of the humble guys are the ones who have put in the time on the mat and understand where they truly stand. The guys running around telling everyone what a badass they are probably haven't. And, just a note - training in your backyard and beating up your friends doesn't constitute real training. One last thing Neal is pointing out is that ego can get you hurt. If this kid wants to talk and ends up on the mat with the likes of Jason Culbreth, Brandon Garner, Pat Wiggs, or, God Help him, Billy Dowey, all the heart and drive in the world won't help him. I can watch all the bastketball I want, but until I put my time on the courts drilling with proper coaches, it doesn't mean I can hit shots.
Neal, I still need to try to make it out to your place soon.
Hoy (Team-ROC Southern Pines)
One last thing: what Gracie Academy Teaches for $50???? I gotta get to Rickson's ASAP!
