"How would you feel if you worked hard, trained hard, and competed hard to be the number one ranked under 14 year old, in the region to have someone mention a “non-sport” that washes your sport?"

well i have worked hard, trained hard, and competed hard to be the number one ranked adult in the region... and i still love old nwa pro wrasslin. personally i've put together a tape of the most exciting and fan friendly mma fights i can think of. so when somebody asks me i just pop it in the vcr. once someone sees brad kohler v steve judson and aaron riley v robbie lawler, they are usually pretty clear about what we do... and they usually can't wait to watch some more

I see what you are saying, James. And I sympathize with you, but MMA and Sub Wrestling are both so far from the mainstream that it is pathetic. It is only natural for people to think that what we do is like the stuff on TV. They don't know.

It's like guys that play rugby. A lot of people in the states still don't know what rugby is. The first time I heard of it was when I was in the Army and my unit was getting together a rugby team. I was watching practice one day and was like, "What the heck are those guys doing? That ain't no football like I've ever seen before." I just did not know what rugby was. Then someone explained it to me and now I know.

The best position we can take is to properly explain our sport to people. That is the only way they will understand. Usually, in quick conversation, I just say that I wrestle and box. Most people seem to understand that pretty much. If I just say wrestling, they usually confuse it.

"Hey, so are you on TV? Have you ever met Stone Cold?" I get that all the time. Then I just tell them that my wrestling is based more on martial arts. People seem to get it then. It's just in the way you come across to them.

And the video tape idea that Whitfield brought up is a good one. My exterminator comes over to the house once a month to do a service call and he saw that I was watching PRIDE one time. He thought it was collegiate wrestling. So I explained what it was and I made him a compilation tape so he could watch on his own. He's really into it now and we talk about it all the time. He's a huge boxing fan and has even came out to watch me LOSE in a tuff man tournament once. =) But now everytime he comes over we talk about MMA. He loves it more than boxing because he said it is "more real" than boxing. I guess the Dave Menne/Phil Baroni fight did a lot of convincing. ;)

"exterminator comes over to the house once a month to do a service calL"

what is he servicing?

Dude you have more problems than making people understand you sport.

oes he always come over when you are there? you know i have heard some stories about the milk man but not the bug man.

i have no desire to see the exterminator once a month for two reasons: #1 that means that i've got bugs or rats or goats or something and #2 he looks like billy dowey

While we are in fantasy,I would like to make a few coments.Jake is not only a well spoken, skilled, hetrosexual young man with a gleeming future, but he also smells good and is quite pleasant to be around.Unfortunatly,I have never been to the fantasy world and none of what I have said is true about Jake in the real world.

LOL! Very funny, Speight. If I wasn't such a wussy boy, I'd issue an online challenge to you. You'd better thank your lucky stars, pal. I'll deal with you Saturday in the parking lot of Wal Mart, buddy!

The exterminator comes once a month so I DON'T become infested with bugs or any other type of vermin. When winter comes to the boonies, it's hard as hell to try and fend off a hundreds field mice with those sorry excuses for mouse traps that they sell nowadays. And summertime?...major ant issues...not to mention the mounds of fireants that seem to pop up overnight.

I guess you city folk don't have to worry about that. Y'all are too busy beating the crackheads away from your garbage cans. ;) Tell me I'm wrong.
