The Amature Fight League will be holding an event in Elizabeth City, NC on May 17th. The card will feature current 185 KOTR Title holder and many others. The event will televised and aired for 8 weeks. We still need to match up about 4 fights at various weights. If anyone is interested email southsidelc@hotmail.com or call 252-207-7793. The event did turn out great and it was for a good cause. All proceeds were donated to our local special olympics chapter. Here is a link to the 30-minute TV show that will start airing on Sat. night at 12:30 on WSKY 4. http://www.eyecandydv.com/directorsview/afl/ The show will run for 8 weeks once a week. As far as I know, I'm the only promoter on the amateur level that is paying to have its events televised. Now, I'm not going to get into a pissing contest on this forum but there are 2 sides to every story. Any one that is familiar with the promotion business, knows that alot of time, effort, and money goes into promoting an event and for 2 fighters to walk out at the last minute without any explanation is very disrespectful and unprofessional. Where I come from, if someone doesn't agree with someone or something, the parties act like adults and try to rectify the situation. I've had experiences from Underground to HBO/Showtime and PPV......the normal reaction is to not show up when an agreement has not been reached. (otherwise it's a breach of contract or stated agreement.) Walking out at the event has to be more than a political statement. Did the rules change at the last minute? opponents Change? I'm still waiting. All I know is that about 10 minutes before showtime we were looking for one of the fighters to be reexamined by the physician because he had a high blood pressure and he was no where to be found. Then we discovered that the other fighter that was with him had also disappeared. We tried to make repeated phone calls to both fighters but no one answered. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

Or was he just joking and you are mentioning a couple of fighters who walked on your show? In my experience a fighter who shows to the event is only going to walk if there is something VERY wrong in their view, or unless they turn chicken at the last minute. If they were guys with Billy the second thing didnt happen. So I wonder what went on betwee the two parties. I have seen so many fighters agree to so much last minute crap I have to wonder why anyone who bothered to show would leave.....unless there was at least a spark lit somewhere.
