Hey Austin,

Check out those two schools for sure. James Speight (All American) is a Blue Belt under Royce Gracie and is a very competent coach. Give him a chance and you'll see that you can learn a lot from him. They roll no gi all the time.

Bemjo is a good place to go for Judo. A few of my training partners have worked out with Jason Russell in the past and have great things to say about his technique. He is active in NC Judo and is prolly one of the best sources for Judo in the area.

Have you visited these schools? If not, swing by and check them out before making any assumptions. You might like what you see.

As far as wrestling, you might wanna run a check on the USA Wrestling NC Website at www.ncmat.org I am pretty sure there are a few clubs in the area. I am not sure if all of them are adult age clubs though. Also, check out the AAU clubs at www.aausports.org You can get a listing of AAU registered clubs in the area.

For other sources, if you are at ECU you can swing by the rec center and ask about some of the martial arts clubs on campus. I know that when I was a student there, the isshin ryu karate club had a decent grappling/mma group. Those guys were pretty cool and open minded so they incorporated a lot of MMA principles into their workouts. I'm not sure if they are around, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

If I can do anything else to help, just e-mail me and let me know. God bless!

Steve
