George Pendergrass Classic BJJ tournament
Location: Franklin Academy
1127 Chalk Road
Wake Forest, NC 27587
Prizes: Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places
Date- Saturday , July 30th 2005
Time schedule- Weigh ins from 8:30am to 10:30am
Rules meeting at 10:30am
Competition starts at 11:00am
Divisions will be ran in this order: kids, then women and masters, adult men purple, blue, then white belt.

Tournament Fees: Competitors- $35 dollars pre-reg / $45 day of event
Spectators- $5.00 dollars

The deadline for pre-registration is at Saturday July 16th 2005
All competitors who pre-register will receive a free tournament`s T-shirt.

Special four man brown belt division
Eric Burdo – Richmond BJJ and Self Defense
Chris Mahan – Gustavo Machado (Richmond)
Dennis Hayes – Pedro Sauer (Hybrid Fighting)

Point System
Take down 2
Passing the Guard 3
Knee on stomach 2
Mount 4
Rear Mount 4
Sweep 2
(All positions must be held for a Min of 3 seconds)
(Advantages will be awarded)

Length of matches
Adult
White 5 min
Blue 6 min
Purple 7 min
Brown 8 min
Kids
ALL 4 min

Illegal Techniques
Adults
Striking of any kind
Eye gouging or fish hooking
Hair pulling
Small joint manipulation (finger or toe locks)
Neck cranks/cervical locks (only neck crank allowed is the can opener, once guard is open must release immediately)
Heel hooks
Slamming (will be immediately disqualified, no slamming will be tolerated)
Kids
Same as above and the following:
Knee bar
Figure four foot lock/toe hold
NO Stalling
First warning the referee will countdown for 30 seconds and give a verbal warning. Second warning will result in given the opponent an advantage. The third warning will be awarding the opponent two points and re-starting the fight standing.

We're just a little over a week away from the tournament. Wanted to let everyone know that we have a Black Belt gi superfight featuring David Jacobs (Yamasaki Academy) vs. Jonathon Wertz (Gustavo Machado). Also, we have confirmed several teams competing this year including team Carioca, Lenior County Wrestling Club, team ROC, Gustavo Machado, Lloyd Irvin, Luis Palhares, Huss Hybrid Combat College, Joe Hurst Jiu Jitsu, Hybrid Martial Arts Center, Richmond BJJ and Self Defense, Midnight Blue Martial Arts, All American Martial Arts (team ROC), Cornerstone and Yamasaki academy.

Is this tuornament a gi or no gi competion? I thought it was no gi. I'd hate to drive all that way and not bring a gi with me.
