Anybody know anything about "The Gym" in Greensboro. They're in cahoots with "The Venue." They hold hold pro boxing and kickboxing events in Greensboro. You may have seen the billboards on I-40. Can't really find out much info on the gym. Possibly thinking of approaching them about starting some kind grappling program there, since Greensboro is like totally VOID!!

Try a search for Cheryl Nance Promotions or CNP promotions.

I have had dealings with her in the past and she is fair as a promoter. In the boxing business she pulls in alot of up comming talent and is the "sweetheart"of the Boxing Commission. Many of the other promoters across the state always bring talent to her shows.

As far as the grappling program, it's a coin toss.

I emailed the guy and this is what he had to say. I was very excited to see it so close to my house, but...
-----------------------------------------------------------
The rumor is true, I will be teaching MMA style martial arts at the GYM, may I ask how and who you heard this from as I would like to thank them. As for the curriculum the classes will incorporate stand up kickboxing with a primary focus on Muay Thai, street fighting techniques will have heavy aspects of two systems of Kung Fu, and there will be grappling studied along with submission and locking techniques which were handed down from the original Chinese systems, hence MMA, I think the study and work out will benefit anyone who has desires to be a better street self defense fighter or someone who desires to compete in MMA and kickboxing as an amateur or professional. Classes are 60.00 a month and the sign up fee of 25.00 is waived for those who join in February, classes are set to begin there the first Tuesday in Feb. and then on Thursday. The classes will be every Tuesday and Thursday I think from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, let me verify that time tomorrow and I will get back to you. Classes will increase in time and number as the class size grows to accommodate proper training. I emphasize both proper technique and body conditioning, flexibility and strength. You can register at the GYM or with me, at the GYM contact Cheryl Nance, 254-2648. I hope this helps you and I hope you come train with us.

Sincerely;

Clayton Roberts

Clayton i was just wondering what your credentials are in MMA. 1st you said you wanted to start a grappling program so i assume you are ranked in jiujitsu or some other form of grappling. also how do you combine 2 styles of kung fu with muay thai? just wondering. if it were me i would just teach jiujitsu along with muay thai. that alone is alot to learn!
