I got at the Waterloo at about 4.30, because i had to be at Time Off before 5 to get my signed Butterfly Effect blockmount which i had won. And its not like i can just drive home, to Ipswich. So my friend and I play pokies, for about 2 hours, then we watched the butterfly effect do some of their sound check. Sweet & Low was the only song I regonized, the rest were all new songs. After that, Clint was walking by, and commented on our cool home-made Effect shirts, which happened to be better than the official ones, and if someone from the band happens to read this, they are up for sale, for the right price. heh.
So, Full Scale played first, and considering im anti rap-metal, i quite enjoyed their show, the guitarist reminded me of Josh Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age. Clint alos came up assisting with the vocals on one of their songs. I will definately be promoting them to as many people as possible, mainly because Zeke made the effort to talk to me and my friend in the Bistro earlier. They seem like a great bunch of guys, so they deserve all the success that will probably come their way in the near future.
Next up, Another Race, well, now i can say i've seen Incubus live twice. The only reason Another Race seemed better than Full Scale was because of the lack of equipment Full Scale had to work with. It was as boring as fuck, i don't like Incubus, so what chance have i got liking Another Race.
After what seemed like the longest day in history, The Butterfly Effect graced the stage with much anticipation from the majority of the crowd. It was a massive set, with a new song to start. Next up, they went to the old favourite Black Lung, and people behing me started going crazy, 2 days later, i'm still sore from being pushed into the front barrier. The Butterfly Effect pulled all the great old songs, and some new songs which really kick ass. It came to Sweet and Low, when i finally decided that the drunked tools behind me were pissing me off too much, so i went, to the side of the stage, which was better than standing at the front, no wankers on the side. They then played Take It Away, with guest vocalist Zeke from Full Scale, Pure, Crave, and of course a few other songs which i didnt know. Then the highlight of my night. The Butterfly Effect, a band fast becoming my favourite, playing a song from my favourite. The started the big intro to You Again, which ive heard about them doing before. I was quite pissed off that they didnt do the whole song, but I'm seeing Pacifier on Friday anyway. They then finished up a brilliant night by playing Saved.
The last time i'd had a day this cool, was when i met Pacifier at their instore, in July. Nothing else comes remotely close. Thanks to The Butterfly Effect and Full Scale for making the effort to talk to the fans, and putting on a great show.
