Yes this project gave me better insight into the novel because i was actually comparing it to my life as i went along and looking for the historical context. I did have to read more closely because i was looking for good quotes to use when i compared my life to Siddhartha's. I also needed to pay attention to the steps he took. The positivies of this exercise were that it allowed us to take a piece of literature and relate it to our own lives. Also we may look at the future with the perspective that the novel gave us. Another positive is that we read more comprehensively so we better understood Siddhartha. It also makes us question our spiritual selves. The negatives to this exercise were that the webquest is a little complicated. Also we cannot enjoy reading the novel, we are forced to read between the lines and look for quotes the entire time so we cannot just absorb it for what it is. I thought the webquest was a little difficult to follow. i didn't know which parts to include in the essay and which not to. there is more information on there than 1500 words. I also wasn't sure how to integrate all of the questions about Hinduism, Buddhism and Siddhartha. I also was confused about whether or not we were comparing our lives to the real Siddhartha or the Siddhartha from the novel.
