I have today been called by an AutoModena MR-2 customer who paid in full back in July and is yet to learn the wherabouts of his car or whether it has indeed been ordered. I note there is a reference to AutoSource apparently from an AutoModena employee suggesting we placed some Toyota orders. I don't know if this is a genuine mistake/red herring or what (I understand they were rather tight lipped about suppliers at the recent Creditors meeting), however would like to put the record straight. We have in the past 2-3 months since making contact with AutoModena placed a few Saab orders only. All of these cars have been ordered and will be delivered to the customers. It has, however, recently come to light that these cars were sold under false pretence and the prices quoted were in facct less than our trade supply price.

After the long chat today with the poor chap who stands to lose £14,500 on his phantom MR-2, it seems "dodgy dealings" have been going on at AM for at least 6-8 months and there have clearly been less than honourable intentions in many if not most of the deals closed by them in this time.

Whilst I of course feel for those which have obviously been duped, I can only say that the Saab orders placed through us will materialise and we will do what we can to come to an amicable and equitable settlement with the customers in question.

Adrian Purdy, M.D. AutoSource (UK) Car Imports.
