Here's a short little story about Jimmy, that illustrates very well why, though I didn't know him and never met him, I always thought very highly of him, as did everyone who knew him...

Indians insiders have been sharing lots of stories about Jimmy Warfield's sense of integrity, and one is especially telling. A few years ago, an Indians player, knowing how much Warfield disliked using profanity, offered the trainer $50 to say a certain four-letter word. Warfield refused, but that only encouraged other players to join the dare, and soon the jackpot was $200. Still, Warfield refused, spurring even more players to throw in cash. Finally, the amount reached a whopping $2,500 - yet Warfield stayed firm, and declined to say the dirty word. The impressed players walked away with their money and even more respect for Warfield's sense of principle.

As for the bird... The story goes that the bird was last seen at Wednesday's game, where he/she circled Jacobs Field twice and then flew away over the leftfield wall.

Thanks for letting me share :-)
