I concure with you JP, about Fuson. While I prefered Dombrowski to Hart, and really wanted to see Omar Minaya get a chance. Though he didn't fit the profile of someone with previous GM experience that Hart wanted, he deserves a shot with someone. I didn't want Hart because there were too many Brian Giles for Ricardo Rincon and Sean Casey for Dave Burba's on his resume.
As I am prone do to, I got all fired up listening to Hart and Fuson's press conference. Hart had a comment that was something like "I love baseball, and as long as I am here, I will give everything I have to the Texas Rangers"
He wasn't full of promises about getting the job done with pitching and defense, as any GM would do, and Doug Melvin tried to do. He just said he would try to improve pitching, but in the meantime, still try to build a winner.
Also, by all indications, Narron will stay on board as manager, and Dan O'brian, the asst GM who was at the helm since Melvin was fired, will stay on as the Asst GM of baseball operations. He also interviewed for the job. That brings up the rather uncany situation where 3 men who interviewed for the same job will be working together.
I am pretty happy about it, all and all. If nothing else, between that and the marvelous game 4 of the series, there is some serious baseball talk goin on around here, and that makes any day better.
