I've been making this for years! Very easy to make and sooo good and tender. You won't believe the ingredients, and not even salt is used, in case you have high blood pressure.

Brisket a la Marlen

1 3-4 lbs. brisket of beef
3 cups orange juice (or more - see instructions)
2 large pkgs mixed dried fruit

Place brisket in baking pan. Cover with juice and fruit (should be almost submerged in juice). Cover tightly with foil or a lid. Bake at 250*F (yes, 250* - it is not a typo) for about 4 hours until meat is cooked through and tender. Turn the meat over a couple of times while cooking. Drain the juice and serve the fruit over the brisket.
You can easily do this in a crockpot - it takes me about 5 hours on high, 6-8 on medium.
I serve overlapping slices of it with the fruit right down the middle in a big platter with mashed potatoes on one side and a colorful vegetable, such as carrots, on the other side.
I also serve warm orange marmalade with it if I have some handy.
If you have leftovers, cut them into strips, add your favorite barbeque sauce and serve it on buns. Not Sloppy Joes, these are Neat Marlens! LOL
