I signed up for this last year. There is a large vegetable warehouse/plant (I'm not sure what you would call it!) here in my city. They have an offer right now where, for every person who signs up to get free recipes by e-mail, they will donate 50 pounds of vegetables to our local food bank. They are aiming for 1/2 million pounds by the end of March, but they are only at 300,000. The recipes are really good, and you can decide whether you want them daily, a couple of times a week, or once a week. They don't send you anything else, either, just recipes. It's a great cause, and you can never have too many new recipes to try!

Here is part of the e-mail:
Until the end of March, people around the world have a unique opportunity to help out those less fortunate than themselves, without spending a cent or leaving their home. For every person who signs up for Peak of the Market's free daily, twice weekly or weekly recipe e-mails @ www.PeakMarket.com, Peak growers will donate 50 pounds of fresh vegetables to the Food Bank. Last year when Peak of the Market made this offer, 5,460 people signed up sending 273,000 pounds to the Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank. The goal this year is to raise over half a million pounds.
As you know, we have a brand new recipe every day that has great cooking ideas for vegetables, of course, but also chicken, pork etc. There is absolutely no cost to anyone registering for the recipe e-mail service. It can be cancelled or changed at any time and we do not give or share any information with any other party. The only information we ask for is an e-mail address and what province, state or country they live in.
I have listed the 2 most commonly asked questions we received last year during this food drive.
1. Is this another internet hoax? This is a real offer, that doesn't cost anyone a cent and gets vegetables to the food bank.
2. Why is Peak of the Market doing this? We think this is truly a Win / Win / Win situation. The food bank gets fresh vegetables, Peak of the Market gets more people receiving their recipes and subscribers get to help out those less fortunate while receiving some great free recipes. Everybody wins!
To quote David Northcott of Winnipeg Harvest, "Sign up, stir it up and get cooking. These recipes will bring satisfied smiles around your dinner table and provide fresh vegetables to Manitoba's Food Banks."
Imagine what we can do if every one of our recipe subscribers, in all 38 countries, passed on this e-mail to just 10 people and they passed it onto a few more. Working together, we can get tons of vegetables to the hungry.
Thank you for your time and any help you can give us.
Take care and please don't forget to eat your veggies!
