Yes, it is fairly common in the interior of the state to see moose while fishing. Moose are majestic creatures and I like to see them. In the summer moose choose to walk about in shallow ponds where they eat the aquatic plants and soak to avoid mosquitos. On occasions with my husband by rivers, while being quiet we have seen beavers which are amazing to see three feet away. I think they do not like the noise people make, but if you are quiet and not disturbing them they will go about chewing trees nearby to build their homes. I am not familiar with the size of mosquitos outside of Alaska. There are a lot of them near water and they can be a problem. Last summer my husband and I thought it would be a swift idea to go salmon fishing on the banks of the Yukon River. That lasted about 30 minutes because we were swarmed by them. June is the month it rains in the interior, usually. Alaska is very isolated from the other 48 states. I like that about it.
