Subject: vinyard house

I live near there. Here's the story I know. It all makes sense if you think about the time and setting. There was a mana nd woman who lived in the vineyard house. Well, in colom during gold rush days there was a part of town that can now be refered to as the "red light district". Miners, who were far from home, girlfriends and wives, often needed a little satisfaction from a women. There were rows of tents set up, in the space that is now between the big rock and the forestry department. Well, the women would hang a lantern, covered in red cloth outside the tent if they were occupied, whihc meant come back later. One day the wife had to go to the doctor. While she was there, she decribed to the doctor some symptoms her husband was having. The doctor thought it was probably syphilis. Since the wife knew she didnt have it, she relized her must have been sleeping with some of thoes women. To get revenge on her husband, she locked him in the basement (notice there are bars on the window, and a little tiny slot by the door, where she slipped him food) Well what syphilis does is makes the body pretty much eat the brain. First, a person becomes blind, the goes crazy. It is a slow and painful death. People (especially old employees that have had to close the resturant) hear voices and say its haunted by the husband and wife.......
