Town bowed out of the Worthington Challenge Trophy despite a 2-1 win at Hope Street. Prescot progressed courtesy of their 2-0 win at Knowsley Road (agg 3-2) last Saturday and managed to hang-on for their Final place at Gigg Lane on the 19th April. They will meet Atherton Collieries who recorded a 5-2 aggregate win over Kidsgrove with a 2-0 win this afternoon at Alder Street.

Town gave a gutsy performance in what was a typical Cup tie. Prescot decided to defend their lead and they did it well. Not much between the two teams and Cables will count themselves lucky to have progressed from a tough encounter.
