Just to fuel the debate - being a Prescot supporter, I obviously saw a completely different game due you. Prescot were consistently pulled back for off-side in the first half, St Helens less so. When players stop for the referee's whistle, putting the ball in the net after the event does not constitute a goal (even one that's disallowed)by any stretch of the imagination.
To be fair, St Helens did have the better of the opening 20 minutes in what was a scrappy first half. The game was understandingly tense but the surface of the pitch led to sloppy play all round.
In the second half Prescot got the break with the goal and could (and should) have had a couple more as St Helens chased the game. The miss from Jensen 10 minutes from time was unbelievable.
I know that bare facts don't necessarily give a true reflection of the how the game was played, the pressure that was created or the goalkeeper involvement to prevent goal oppportunities but these are from my notes of the game (attempts after offside decision is given do not count):
St Helens - Attempts on goal 5, On Target 1, Off target 4 (including one off the bar).
Prescot - Attempts 8, On target 2 (one goal), Off target 6.
Five of Prescot's attempts came in the last 15 minutes of the game.
