In fact, the traditional party would have a candidate of their own but the current social-democratic government, Clinton-doppler, busted their candidate for overly visible corruption. She got pissed, and the traditional abruptly parted from the social-democratic alliance (that governed for the last 8 years). The social-democratic candidate, Serra, is a completely personality-less idiot. He has however all economic powers of the nation on his side, because he's plutocratic-oligarch, and defends the traditional forms of corruption.

The traditionals went for the populist (ex-communist) party, to help their candidate, who plans on dissolving the Congress and stockpiling nuclear weapons. He's kinda fascist.

Lastly, the three-times-losing labour party candidate "the squid" is ex-lumpen, finger-less, speech-impedimented bizzarre guy who can't tell a stock from a debt bond. He is leading the polls because the corrupt elites have finally bored the people. He's being supported by a new technocratic corporative ruling class. Which basically means he sold out.

There is, of course, the Worker's Cause Party, with 1% voters (1.5 million). Their candidate promises military support to Iraq, among other things.

But I'm not planning on throwing away my vote.
