Deva nodded solemnly. "I have heard of the fall of Equinion. I'm sorry to stir bad memories." He said, then continued to answer her question. "My people, the Elcyions, are a proud people. Our home planet is so far away from here, however, that it took my pod years to get here, even with a warp drive.
"We believe very strongly in education. We learn mathematics, the sciences, Elcyion history, and the different languages of the Universe when we are very young. After years of this, we move on to what I believe you would call an apprenticeship, where we learn a craft under a master. It is not uncommon to have three or four different crafts, either.
"We also have a culture spanning back thousands upon thousands of years. When I first came here, I was shocked, to be frank. There is no word for 'crime' in our tongue. It is a foreign concept, but here..." He sighed.
"But our planet is beautiful. Forest carpets it, with scraggly mountains peaking out to watch over us. The waters glisten like a sapphire that caught the sun in it's center, and the air; Oh, the air smells of clover honey and strawberries." Deva finished.
The thought of his homeland made tears threaten, as he knew there was little chance that he would ever see it again, but he made sure to get rid of them before Imo noticed. He decided to change the subject.
"This ship is interesting, isn't it?"
