Subject: My Beaver Fever has Returned

I've come down with another case of Beaver Fever; it’s something I can’t shake. Even with the Beavs horrible finish to the regular season; I can’t be Fever free for long.
Each season I seem to get thoroughly disappointed with their play at times and I shut the game off and vow to stop watching. But every time I return to the TV or Sanford Center and watch, full of optimism that they’ll turn it around and play the way we all know they can play.
This season isn’t any different, it may have even been worse, I vowed to stop watching after seeing them give up 2 games to Northern Michigan, and I returned. I vowed to stop watching again after seeing them play like garbage in Mankato, but I returned. I thought it couldn’t get any worse when they dropped one to Huntsville and I vowed to stop watching again, but I returned. Last weekend I was on vacation and I watched the games on my computer and was laughing as the Beavs gave up 10 to Bowling Green because that was worse than Huntsville, and it was laughable at that point. “Never again!” I said.
How have I gotten thru this over the years? I’m not really sure, but there is one saying that rings thru my head constantly. “Don’t Quit, Never Give Up and Always Believe!” This is something a coach of mine told me when I was a kid, a coach that just so happens to have played for the Beavs. This saying could even be a Beaver hockey saying, I’m not entirely sure. Anyhow, it was passed onto me as a kid and it stuck.
So, here I sit at work, with this ringing thru my head over and over again. “Don’t Quit, Never Give Up and Always Believe!” “Don’t Quit, Never Give Up and Always Believe!” “Don’t Quit, Never Give Up and Always Believe!”
I grew up in Northern Minnesota, in Bemidji. I know the economic impact of living up there, we probably all know it. I grew up with very little and I was able to succeed and graduate from BSU with a degree, beating the odds. So, I know what it’s like to be the underdog, we know what it’s like, we cheer for the underdog, and we thrive in being the underdog. I mean we cheer for the Vikings, Twins and Wild. We’re said to be a small market and we have no chance, and as big schools and big programs turn their backs on us and the other underdog schools of the WCHA, we can sleep at night and wake up in the morning knowing it’ll be alright.
Simply put, I believe. I know we can win these games this weekend. And I know we can win the Final Five, because I believe. I believe in these Beaver players, I believe in the coaches and I believe in this Program.
So, as I prepare myself to go tell my boss I’ve come down with a Fever, and I need to go home. I ask you Beaver Nation, do you believe?

P.S. Thanks Millsy for this site and your thoughts. I appreciate it and I enjoy reading everything people have to say about our Nation. I'll be watching the other sites you mentioned early this week and look forward to reading all your comments.
