Popularity Contest, that is all it is! LOL!

I went and took a look at the current PairWise Rankings, which mimic the NCAA Selection Process. I went with the top 20 (plus ties).

NCHC: 6
Hockey East: 6
ECAC: 4
WCHA: 3
Big Ten: 1
Atlantic Hockey: 1

I don't think you will see this happen next year. I don't think mathematically it will be possible to have 6 teams from a 8 team league (NCHC) make the tournament. Four, maybe, but that would be pushing it. The Big Ten, usually Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Wisconsin are in the tournament. But those teams come from two different conferences. Will all four make it from a six team league? I don't think so as someone has to win and someone has to lose in conference play. Can a strong (and I mean STRONG) non-conference record make up the difference for having a losing record in conference. Yes, to a point, but how much.

I think you will see something like this:

Big Ten: 2-3
NCHC: 3-4
HE: 3-4
ECAC: 2-3
WCHA: 2-3
AH: 1-2 (Could see two this year if Niagara wins all the way to the AH Championship and then gets upset).
