Author: eunuch
Subject: NiC

is it just me or was NiC horribly done? I don't mean character-wise...AB:VH charas are possibly my favorite ones of any fandom i belong to, but the plot was horrible...

i was expecting more than just a few cheap sex thrills...i was hoping for some resolutions to take place...something to develop other than Anita's supposively uncontrollable libido...

i thought that LKH took the easy way out by introduving Micah to rid herself of the excrutiatingly difficult plot development she had going on with Richard/Jean-Claude.

I don't give a rat's ass about the arduer...Anita is not that easy...she would have NOT submitted...I would have thought it much more plausible if she had resisted and would have had to be semi-rescued by one of her boys. Now, i am not pro-Richard, I dislike him with a passion, but i hated the manner in which he was seemingly eliminated.

and i miss the police work! some of the charas that I've grown to love have become two-dimensional cardboard cut-out version of themselves...Nathaniel, Jason, Damian...lord, even my beloved Asher...

for having waited so long for NiC...i was painfully dissapointed...I think/hope that Cerulean Sins redeems the series and brings back the excitement of the first 9 books.

*blink* You're just NOW reading NiC? I thought all those complaints had been hashed out and argued back and forth to the point of nausea MONTHS and MONTHS ago on all the various fansites and message boards...heck, FLAME WARS were fought over opinions on that book. Where were you during all that? You missed the party. My personal opinion is that every author is entitled to a bomb or two...heck, even Stephen King has written some real stinkers. I enjoyed NiC, but that's because I didn't really take things too seriously...and don't count Richard out just yet. According to Laurel herself it's gonna be a few more books before she gets around to resolving the Triumverate's love triangle thing.

I don't know, my take on it was somewhat lukewarm. I mean, I liked that Richard and Anita broke up, that was GREAT, but she sucked all the fun out of it by throwing in Micah, who (in my opinion) is WORSE than Richard. Richard, I mean, as much as I hate him and want JC for Anita, at least he had a personality. I feel like Micah is the man-Anita clone. Blah. He's so boring it almost makes me want Richard back to fight with.

And the ardeur thing... that was just lame. I mean, I felt like it wasn't really plausible. You'd think this was such a big thing that JC or Asher would have mentioned it before, but it just pops up now? I don't know. It felt like an excuse for Anita to have alot of sex... which is great... I LIKE alot of sex scenes, but preferrably with JC.

Overall, I didn't *hate* the book, but I definitely miss the old-style Anita books. Around Blue Moon things started to go downhill, but hey, my hopes for Cerulean Sins are way up there. That sex scene with JC is gonna win LOTS of points!!! ;) *eg*
