Ok i had this same problem with one of my eqestrian instructor's horses(ponies,whatever)well i am most familiar with two methods. First try half-halting her when she is going too fast, then when she responds and slows down her speed, then reward her by giving her a very very little bit of release on the rein, and if she speeds up, repeat the half halt. do this the whole time you are riding. it is also very effective in the trot.if that doesnt work, try not using any leg and keeping a tight rein.email me and let me kno if it works
