here's my effort...

She was a tall and stately ship, and though she sailed a dark and heaving sea, she held herself regally, like a queen in an over-sprung carriage, on an exceptionally bumpy road.

Her new captain was a smiling, silver-haired rogue. He walked with a limp, but his limbs were whole, and he moved like lightning when circumstances required it.

With a gleaming cutlass between his teeth, he wriggled up the rigging at tremendous speed, to cut down the flag with the stars and anchor, replacing it with a black pirate signal� a grinning skull and two crossed thigh bones, white-on-black; expect attack!
