Subject: Why the lacquers

Lacquers stay on better, are more chip resistant,have less solvents. You can check lacquers by price. The higher the price, the better indication it is that it will be a lacquer. A bottle of $.99 polish isn't a lacquer. Most polishes will hold on artifical nails, but not all lacquers will hold on natural nails.
Amera makes two different types of base coat.

l. Regular base coat, which I use if someone is going to
wear colored polish. It has nylon fibers to provide
surface strength and to protect the nail plate from
absorbing lacquer color on the the natural nail. Also,
the fibers help the next coat adhere to the nail
surface.
2. Their Rejuvenating Base Coat is for nails that are
dry. It contains aloe vera gel to assist in
rehydrating the nail and does not have formaldehyde or
toluene. It also aids in treating damaged or extremely
dry nails. And in dry climates or in winter will aid
in moisture retention. Last but not least, it is
compatible with the other Amera lacquers.
