On another forum there was a question about Did being thin ever help? I took those responses and made this list:


Costs of being thin (even too thin):

1. Preoccupation of weight, food, body image
2. Loss of friends (sometimes they get jealous
3. No real social life (can’t eat and still be real skinny)
4. A great deal of work to get there
5. A great deal of work to stay there
6. Choose: fat and miserable or thin and miserable
7. Hurt family members by not eating with them or refusing their food
8. Never happy with what you weigh??
9. Isolate yourself from other people
10. Compare yourself to others
11. Jealous of those thinner then you
12. Cranky from not eating (also sleepy, miserable, etc.)
13. Energy down
14. Concentration down
15. More obsessive
16. Hate yourself more


Good things of being thin (even too thin):

1. Get out of any depression that the extra weight puts you in
2. More confidence
3. Body like a model/actress
4. Wear anything you want
5. Other people jealous of you being that thin
6. More of a social life (more confidence)
7. Knowledge that you’re thin
8. People notice you
9. People like you more
10. Knowing that you did it.
11. Positive comments (maybe even that you’re too skinny)
12. Positive attitude (if I can do this, I can do anything)
13. Feeling that you get more respect (and sometimes you actually do)
14. More in touch with yourself
15. You’re thin and that’s all that matters
16. Love yourself more
