Subject: Spielberg Film "Terminal" Now Casting Many Roles

"Terminal" (Dreamworks Pictures) - Casting Call

A major film from director Steven Spielberg and actor Tom Hanks.

"Terminal" will star Tom Hanks as an immigrant named Viktor Navorski who is fleeing his war-torn Eastern European homeland. He finds himself detained in the terminal at New York City's JFK airport when the time of his landing coincides with a political coup back in his tiny country of Slovenia.

Now unable to enter the U.S. or to go back home to a country that no longer exists, he is forced to take up residence in the terminal itself, befriending the staff of the airport, and falling in love with an airline flight attendant.

"Terminal" will be the latest collaboration between Spielberg and Hanks, after Saving Private Ryan and Catch Me if You Can.

Production will begin on September 30, 2003.

CAST MEMBERS: Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Chi McBride, Stanley Tucci.

DIRECTOR: Steven Spielberg

PRODUCERS: Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald

The film's casting directors are looking to fill a wide variety of principal and background roles.

MALE ROLES FOR THIS FILM:

[Karl Iverson], Caucasian or African-American, 40s - 50s. A seasoned construction foreman who oversees various building projects at the JFK International terminal. He soon hires the Tom Hanks character onto his own crew. PRINCIPAL ROLE.

[Bobby Alima], Caucasian, 20s - 30s. A hard-working, brash, young New York construction crew manager who works under Karl. Bobby is tough but warm-hearted and loyal to his workers. He puts Tom Hank's character (Viktor) to work on a variety of terminal projects, and his admiration of Viktor's craftsmanship grows with each job. PRINCIPAL ROLE.

[Steward], Caucasian, 30s - 40s. A rude, overly officious Frenchman. He presides over the elite First Class passenger lounge at the airport terminal. The actor does not have to be French for this part, but should be able to speak English with a French accent. PRINCIPAL ROLE

[Ray Thurman], African-American, 30s - 40s. An immigration officer who takes his job very seriously. Over the months, Thurman warms up to Tom Hank's character, culminating in an act of daring humanity. LEAD ROLE.

[Brookstone Manager], any ethnicity, 20s - 30s. A hip, well-dressed young guy from Manhattan who manages the Brookstone clothing store at the JFK terminal. Smooth-talking, charming, professional but a bit egotistical.

[Taxi Driver], Caucasian, 20s - 30s. The cab driver is an immigrant from Albania, so actors for this role should be able to speak with an Eastern European accent.

[Gupta], East Indian, 70s. Gupta works as a custodian in the JFK International Terminal. He is crude, rude and thoroughly irascible.

[Officer], any ethnicity, 30s - 40s. A tough, humorless airport security guard.

[Enrique], Latino, 20s - 30s. He is a disabled Honduran man who has a flashing smile. He's a food manager at JFK's food court area. He's also initially suspicious of the Tom Hanks character, but gradually grows quite fond of the displaced Balkan exile.

FEMALE ROLES FOR THIS FILM:

[Corporate Secretary], any ethnicity, 20s - 30s. Highly professional, polished career woman who works at the corporate offices of the JFK airport terminal. She's cold and detached toward Tom Hank's character at first but then becomes more friendly to him.

[Gretchen], Caucasian, 20s - 30s. An attractive, well-educated, kind-hearted, confident young woman who is at the airport to catch a flight. She happens to cross paths with Tom Hank's character while she's at the terminal and she begins interacting with him.

[New Jersey Woman], Caucasian, 30s - 40s. A loud and obnoxious housewife from New Jersey who is passing through the terminal.

[Gap Worker], any ethnicity, 18 - 20s. Hip, stylishly-dressed young college-aged girl who works at the Gap store at the airport.

[Mrs. Field's Girl], any ethnicity, 18 - 20s. A shy, pretty girl who works at the cookie store in the food court.

[Victoria's Secret Manager], Caucasian, 20s - 30s. A businesslike, fashionable woman who has little patience for anything that threatens sales in her store.

[Passenger], any ethnicity, 30s - 40s. An old-fashioned midwestern tourist woman who's coming back from a trip to Europe.

[Cashier], any ethnicity, 30s - 40s. Overworked, cynical, stressed-out, tries to look upbeat.
