I use Premier 6 and Media Studio Pro 6 together on the same system. Of the two programs I much prefer MSP even though I originally started editing on Premier (4.2). From the fist time I loaded MSP (5.0) I loved it! It is as powerfull and fully featured as Premeir but has a more intuitive and logical feel to it. Especially version 6.

It's hard to say why I like it over Premier as both pretty much do the same thing. I have just found I can edit faster and be more productive in MSP. I also like Video Paint which allows you to rotoscope(paint) over individual frames of video, very cool and fun!

I really only use Premier if it has a filter or plugin that I don't have for MSP e.g. Aged Film etc. On my system (1.1gig Athlon, 256RAM, win 98) MSP renders faster also. Not by much but every little bit counts. And as I said Filik's patch works like a dream just by changing out the misici.dll file!

It also has the ligos lsx mpeg encoding engine built right in (a plugin for Premier) so you can output very nice looking mpeg 1 and 2 files straight from the timeline, and FAST !

One other feature of MSP that shit's all over Premeir is it's Video Capture, which is a full featured capture program in its own right and can be run outside of the editor. You have full device/batch control etc. but as bonus for analogue you have some extras that Premeir does not offer, such as the ability to trim the video file before saving it. You can also grab stills from Video Capture rather than having to open the editor and export frames (though you can do this also).

Just try it out and see what you think? My experience is that die hard Premeir users will not change over, but it's certainly worth checking out!
