Subject: Preview problem in Premiere...HELP!!??

Hello everyone,

I have just completed re-installing my system after a being away from this for quite some time.

I used the Babi Pangang guide to setup my system. I am using WinME.

I am almost there, but I am having some problems in Premiere. After capturing some test AVI's in Studio (as per his recommendations), I import them into Premiere 6.0.

In my example, I have 4 clips of about 6-7 seconds long. I put them on the timeline, put some basic transitions in (3 of them), and do a preview. It takes a couple of minutes while it renders the transitions. Once it is done, it starts to display the video both on the monitor and TV. Here is what happens:

It starts out fine for the 1st clip, playing on both displays. It goes thru the 1st transition. At the completion of the 1st trans, the TV monitor freezes at that point, but the computer monitor continues to show the preview (although this 2nd clip is somewhat CHOPPY). At the start of the next transition (2nd), it starts to display on the TV again (and still on the computer monitor) and continues to do so thru the 3rd clip and the 3rd transition. At the completion of the 3rd transition, it again freezes and the 4th and final clip only plays on the computer monitor.
To sum it up, It always plays fine on the computer monitor. Every EVEN numbered NON-RENDERED clip sequence freezes on the TV monitor.
Just to add a little more confusion, after saving this and re-opening the project later, when I select Preview, it is all OK on the computer monitor, but I only see the first clip on the TV thru to the end of the 1st transition, and then it freezes on the TV the rest of the way. Also, by the way, the first transition does not actually work at this time, although the timeline shows it has been rendered from before (the rest of the transitions are OK, but again, only show on the computer monitor).

I did have this all working before last year (although using a slightly different install process which I do not know anymore).

Someone hopefully has an answer or some good ideas. Please share any and all thoughts!!!

Thanks.

CB
