If you mean the chipping motion I'm thinking of you want the
club face to stay square the whole way so you stop release. The NG one hand drill (and the chip shot drill) also does not have release.

What I describe is not a drill but one of those things I've tried just to see now the body works. If you do it as a SUPER slow (Tai Chi) of IMA drill #3 done PROPERLY (don't consciously extend the right wrist. You could also look at it as a super slow NG swing. If you look at the shots of Todd in LTOBG just before the drills you will see examples of the motion. As Peter Fox is saying you must not do anything to consciously release the right hand you see Todd going from the elbow in front/shaft horizontal position through to release.

I don't now agree with Fox that the 'tension that builds up in the swing causes release' but rather think that the limit on the right arm length and no torso rotation cause release.

If you do this at 'Tai Chi' speed you will see that as you run out of right arm you can either rotate your shoulders to bring the right shoulder forward, 'chicke wing' the left arm or fold the left arm and let the left wrist 'break' which is what Moe seems to do If you do the last one the club will 'release' to toe up.

BTW - I'm just looking at LTOBG for the first time in a while to answer your question and the delta between the drills and the real swing are notable. In the chip shot drill the position that Todd holds would be 2 video frames past impact (judging from the height of the hands). In the real swing shots you can see that the club is toe up by the time you reach this point (all between two video frames).
