The LOBG video shows this grip; diagonally through the palm of the left hand (for right handed golfers).

In the NG DG someone has excerpted a post a while ago by Peter Fox (of NG Corp) about the left hand grip. He says it should be more in the fingers that the video showed. The rationale was that the left forearm being 'below' the right was the reason for the need for "all that rotation" in the CG swing. This corresponds to loosing what Scott H refers to as 'dual rails'.

On a different point, if you have the grip through the palm of your left hand the shaft will be in line with the left forearm (viewed from the back down the target line). This will make it difficult to hit with the left wrist in the 'Hogan Position' (don't have TGM with me so can't look up their def now that supinate is proven wrong) because the shaft will bang against the left forearm.

FYI - if you take the Peter Fox NG grip (more in the fingers) the angle will be roughly the same as IMA. You get the much greater angle with NG when the grip runs diagonally through the palm as you have described.

There is an excercise you do in IMA to determine the 'strength' of the left hand grip. It is not a principle that the 'v' should point to any particular place except as determined in the excercise.

With IMA and my more forceful release lately, I require now a VERY neutral to weak grip ala Moe's current grip (good grip pictures HERE .
