I like his method but it does effectively move the ball relative to body center. Notice that the ball was placed at the postion of the left hip BEFORE the right foot was moved. If you stand with your weight centered after the right foot move your left hip (and body center) will be further back.

In his demo he leaned into the "leaning post" which kept the ball in the same position relative to the hip but his weight was not centered.
