No. If you rotated as most do in conventional golf you will get dramatic hooks. HSS minimizes body movement starting with the fact that you setup with you weight on the right (to eliminate the first weight shift) and you have a super 'strong' grip so that the club head stays square to the swing path all the way through the swing till after impact (or you hook).

Very simple and I think a good way for a new golfer to get good results quickly and maintain a level with little practice. The downside is the hooking if you get any 'release' at all, and many people report pain in the wrist (though I did not have that problem when I was using HSS).
