Check out Chuck Hogan's "Five Days to Golfing Excellence". Chuck is the author of the cassette tape included in LOBG. The book doesn't teach you to swing, it teaches you how to PLAY golf.

The first two chapters include a great explanation of "swing plane", "target line" and in general explain how the golf club MUST be the model of the swing. A thorough understanding of just what a golf club is designed to do and how it must do it renders much of the long thread below moot. Some of what is in that thread is either misleading, inaccurate, or just plain irrelevant. Just to give you a hint, "target line" and "swing plane" are two entirely different things and (other than at impact) aren't necessarily ever coincident and may never be in-line, depending on the ball flight you want.

Much of what he writes is clearly compatible with and complementary to NG. At times it may be a little too "Zen" for some, but is nonetheless a great golfing book.
