Returning it to its older state is an easy solution, but in many of the issues of today there ae more underlying ideals in conflict than appear obvious. Many people in this country, of which I consider myself, feel the desire to declare a belief in God as well as in country. As my view leads me (as Jewish statehood has always conected to religious action and sincerity) the "one nation under God" gives outlet to this desire.

Do I see the conflict felt be some? Of course I do. I am voicing my personal opinion of the Pledge as it stands. My father in law fought saying it differently than my father, or even his brother. My question is "Should this change divide us, or strengthen us?"

I want it to strengthen us as a nation. How can it? It can become another point that demonstrates our commitment to all by allowing participate. This seems to indicate that I would want it tobe changed, but it doesn't. I am able to say it either way, and the way I am used to saying it will be changed.

I would like to keep it the same, for my personal reasons, but I would allow it to be changed to allow it to continue for others.
