BEYOND THE GLASS CORRIDOR:
A Reading and Discussion of the book Maps of Women's Goings and Stayings by Rela Mazali

Tuesday, March 5, 12:30-1:30 in McLaren 251

Rela Mazali is an Israeli writer and feminist peace activist. A founder of the New Profile movement to de-militarize Israeli civil society, Mazali has worked for many years to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories.

An accomplished writer in Hebrew and English, Mazali has published numerous short stories, articles, and essays; WhaNever: A Novel (1987); Playbie Sitter, a children's book co-authored with No'a Mazali, her daughter (1997); and educational curricula on topics including peace education, children's rights, and gender equality.
Mazali initiated, and was one of the creators of, the widely-screened documentary film, "Testimonies" (1993), co-produced by British Channel 4, about the experiences of Israeli soldiers in suppressing the first intifada (Palestinian uprising).

Mazali was raised in both the United States and Israel. Maps of Women's Goings and Stayings (Stanford University Press, 2001) is her first book in English.
