and greet him warmly. "Hey,sweetie," I say to him, patting his neck and giving him a kiss on his velvet soft nose. "Ready to go for a ride?" I give him a good grooming and then slip on his bridle. "We're going out for a bareback workout today," I say. "We could use the review." I lead him out to decide on a trail ride "workout" or a ring workout.

I take off Laredo's bridle and hang it up on the bridle hook outside his stall and cross tie him. Then I give him a good sponge down and I scrape all the excess water off. Then I give him a long grooming, and he, very happy, gives me a horse kiss. "You big silly," I murmur, scratching his ears. "You've got to be the nicest stally ever." I put him away with his supper and leave to check on everything else.
