En eerie sound floats through the vacant room as orchestra tests their strings, horns, drums, clarinets and ect. The wonderful smell of baked cake, and fresh-fried foods waft from the kitchen while the servants carry them out in platters. While they continued to set out tray after tray of food unto the embroidered tables, the well-dressed ushers stand at the Ball entrance, chatting quietly.

Oscar stands in the middle of it all, rubbing his hands together with glee. The king couldn't get mad at him this time! Oh, no, he couldn't! As if agreeing mournfully, his stomach growls unhappily. It ached for booze, as he'd not touched a drop since yesterday morning. "Quiet," he hisses at himself. "Lotsa wine at balls! I'll be swimming in luxury! Just look at this extravaganza!"

The ball had begun at last.
