Many different groups of players have talked about an SL "5th edition" but you should be very cautious.

SL does not currently have a game company that is actively controlling and updating its copyright. Hasbro and MMP hold the copyright and neither are spending time on Squad Leader, Cross of Iron, Crescendo of Doom, or GI: Anvil of Victory.

Because of this situation, every so-called 5th edition tends to be the idea of a local gaming to "codify" their own local methods of play.

This game system is robust enough that it is a great joy to play regardless of the detailed rules interpretations, AS LONG AS everyone at the table interprets the rules the same way.

But for this same reason, international or cross-group play must work with the FOURTH edition and any Q&As that have either been accumulated or are added from questions sent to Alain Chabot, MMP's SL representative.

Considering these circumstances, I don't expect Alain to make any rulings that would significantly modify the game system as currently presented in the rulebooks and Q&A.

Hope this insight helps everyone with where we stand ... enjoy your Squad Leader play, though ... its as fun as it always has been!
