Here it is, generally, for the [modern day] US Army. Note that in time of war it's not unusual for an NCO or officer to hold a position normally held by a higher rank, due to battle losses etc.

In the case of the Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Sergeant Major, the NCO is not actually in a leadership position (i.e., there is an officer that outranks them), but they typically have more experience than that officer, so the officer better listen!

NCOs:
Sergeant = team leader (equiv. of a half squad)
Staff Sergeant = Squad leader
Sergeant First Class = platoon sergeant (top NCO in the platoon)
First Sergeant = top NCO in the company
Sergeant Major = top NCO in a Battalion, Brigade, Division, etc.

Officers:
2nd Lieutenant = Platoon Leader
Captain = Company commander
Lieutenant Colonel = battalion commander
Colonel = brigade commander
Major General (2 stars) = division commander
Lieutenant General (3 stars) = corps commander
General (4 stars) = Army commander

Hope this helps
