Subject: Modifications to VASL for SL use

Mike's comments on system requirements is good. Since VASL is a Java application, it will depend a little on your OS and run-time Java. beyond that, you should have more than enough system resources. [The VASL instructions has further information, I believe.]

As for modifying VASL for SL. Few real modifications need to be made, it is more a matter of how one uses the ASL items and VASL capabilities to meet the needs of SL.

Some examples:

track counters: you can use the white (-2) acquisition markers (info/vehicular from map marker/counter display)

panzerfausts: don't exist in ASL, so use a blank german counter and label it (cntrl-L) "PF" ... the label will appear on the face of the balnk counter

vehicles: find one of the proper nationality that is close to the SL (or CoI, etc.) values. Use the label command to add MP and MG information, for ease of play

minor value differences: ASL german MGs have different fire values, crews squads with the proper values are not always available, and some MG ranges are different in ASL. Use the label command to mark the SW correctly.

That's about it ... except for the most important part. ENJOY!!!
