You should not assume that things are logical, particularly
if your proposed solution is to ADD something to your side.
:-)

Assuming that (1) squads would be riding the assault guns
or (2) that they have come a long way, are just that,
assumptions. Squads can walk, too, and except for the
Americans, they mostly did that!

If you want everyone to ride, leave a 628 behind.

In many cases all armies used vehicles like HTs and trucks
to help carry important or heavy items. Perhaps you should
consider the HTs as: one to carry the HMG and one as a
"command vehicle" for the leader.

First step in the long road to ruin is to complain about
the forces that you have. Victory comes faster to those
who try to figure out what to do with what they have to
use. :-)

Enough proselytizing ... the Russians are already favored
in this scenario ... go for it!
