I've noticed your website recently and think it's great there is a local striper club in Kansas. It seems like you guys are very active both locally and nationally and are very well organized with your tournaments, website, membership, etc.

I would like to encourage you to consider holding 1 tournament at Glen Elder next year in place of one of the Wilson tournaments. We have a fair number of stripers out here that just don't get fished for too often since walleye dominate this fishery. I would like to get a little more attention drawn to these guys and try and promote the fishery since they are here and are an underutilized resource.

These fish are stocked approximately every other year to help control the shad numbers and seem to do well out here. The largest fish collected in our nets in 2002 was about 19 pounds and this year we collected many fish in the 21-24" range with bigger fish up to 11 pounds.

Wilson is definitely the top striper lake in the state and will probably always remain that way. However, if you guys would like a change of scenery for one month, I would encourage you to consider holding a tournament at Glen. The numbers are going to be a little lower than what you find at Wilson, and I can't give you a very good idea of what your success rate would be since very few folks target those guys out here, but I think it would be worth a shot.

According to the creel survey conducted out here this year, the top months for stripers were June, October, and May. I would push for the October tournament to be held here as I have witnessed more fish caught these last few weeks then the rest of the year combined.

I would be willing to assist any way I could with the logistics of the tournament at Glen, just let me know. I hope you'll keep this in mind as you make your schedule for 2005.

Feel free to email or call if you have any questions.
