I would have to say that there was no return to smoking regularly at the Super Bowl party. There was quite a bit of smoking. One related teen, a senior in high school, came forward. I suspect about as high a percentage of teens and adults sampled at least one cigarette. I think (hope) my younger daughters were among the abstainers. I know there were some. There was ample space for groups to gather out of sight of others. Let me say that one adult who should not be seen smoking did try it but completely out of sight. She had a lookout and another person standing there to take over the cigarette if anyone came by. The most recently quit smoker participated in helping in this daring adventure but did not puff as far as I know. I've mentioned an aunt who is 50 and looks a lot like me. They live a few hours away. She smoked steadily over the Christmas holidays and again at the party but has not continued, according to our phone and e-mail visits. One known binge smoker (she is 36) has stopped now. Her binge was longer and heavier than usual. It lasted about two months but has happened before. Unlike last year, the game stole the show, not the smokers.
Thanks for the question and pioneering this archive thing. BTW, we plan a St. Patrick's Day event. Stay tuned.
