Sadly, the shuttle has broken up over Texas and left a debris field in East Texas. This is a sad day for all the world. Our prayers go out to all the families and friends of the crew. At least two of the seven crew memebers had Texas connections.
We think we saw the vapor trail as we were in the Mid-Cities area earlier. It apparently happened about 8 and we heard about it about nine or a little more than four hours ago. If you look on a map, The trail of debris is reported from about Corsicana to Athens to Tyler to Nacogdoches and into Louisiana. Towns such as Rusk, Jacksonville and Palestine have reported debris. In Nacogdoches, a city of about 30,000, debris was found on the downtown square and at the airport.
It would seem that the protective shield came off at the time of re-entry and disabled the craft, appararently disintergrating it. I yield to later reports.
It was shocking although there are not major injuries on the ground. The should included freeway signs saying to report debris in the ride home. We will again be gone for several hours.
May God bless all.
