Well, on Wednesday, the day after I showed our younger girls that I had become a smoker, our oldest daughter, Connie, conveniently came to town. She also brought her boyfriend who is now her fiance (June 2003 wedding). Connie was a freshman and a very good high school athlete and I never suspected that she smoked.
That night, we went out to eat. Hubby, the three girls and her bf, George. Connie did nothing to indicate an interest in smoking. Her bf showed an interest in my smoking and Connie seemed miffed. I was the only smoker that night. The Super Bowl came a week and a half later and I planned to smoke at a party we were hosting. By then, my 16 had the band lifted on her smoking although she and a neighbor friend we to be limited to smoking out of the sight of others. The neighbor girls mother knew she smoked also.
The game was boring and Connie proposed that a bunch of us girls come into the men's big TV room smoking at halftime. I quickly deducted that Connie was not at all a non-smoker. That fact was clearly brought to light in a few days. So, now we are ready for another Super Bowl. Connie and I are not non-smokers. My 16 and her friend are after a summer of open smoking and a renewal for the Christmas holidays.
Since that party a year ago, several adult friends have moved from perceived non-smokers into the mostly innocent smoking class. I suspect some won't be mostly innocent Sunday.
