In high school it was cool to smoke and did I ever. My parents both smoked and let me smoke at home after I admitted I smoked anyway.
It was fashionable to smoke in college but I kept it to a half a pack a day except for parties and test time. Then it was off to a job. It didn't seem fashionable to smoke so I quit cold turkey. Then I met the man of my dreams and smoking returned. Did it ever. Two packs a day of Marlboro Light 100s, my favorite for life.
When I got pregnant with the first child, we both quit. I expected a return to smoking as soon as I got home from the hospital. My husband decided we were better off not smoking. Suddenly the second child came. Not being a smoker was easier that time.
Between the second and third, I began to smoke socially whether my husband was watching or not. He never joins me these days. My third pregnancy was not perfect in terms of smoking. Not that bad though. I paced out two packs I bought and several I bummed.
Neither my husband or reformed parents had any sympathy for me. Now, I'm back at work with the youngest almost one and the oldest half past four. My mother is the babysitter when I work.
The girls at work and I have a couple of drinks as a Thursday after work tradition. As someone mentioned, the pack to pay 'em back was purchased yesterday. Few wanted to be repaid. So, I have a pack hidden away in my purse waiting until next Thursday unless of course, my husband leaves the boys with my parents and we go somewhere.
They would miss Friday night at McDonald's more than I would miss cigarettes, though. But come Thursday, I plan to be there with them.
So it goes.

I've been lurker for a couple of years and came up
