1) The National Championships (RYA) are formed from every UK round on the calendar. At the end of the season your best results from 75% of the races run give your points total.i.e. with 15 races in this years championship your best 12 results count, however, you cannot use a DQ as a dropped round. You must also at least cross the start line at the finals (Gibraltar)to qualify for the championships.
2) In the OCR Championships, only the rounds organised by OCRDA count towards the championship (Windermere,Dunoon,Swansea, Teignmouth and Plymouth). All rounds count towards the title. Points are awarded in both National & OCR Championships as follows: 400 for a win then reducing 10% for each place (360 for 2nd place, 324 for 3rd and so on).
3) In the Nations Cup, the original idea was to race in 5 nations (England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France) but owing to lack of venues each year this reduced down. In this years championship I have been told that the following venues will count towards the title : Dunoon, Swansea, Teignmouth and Plymouth. (Les Sables D` Lonnes was also part of this championship). All rounds will count and because of the "International" flavour of this championship we utilise the UIM points system where you get 400 for a win then a 25% reduction for each subsequent place (300 for 2nd, 225 for 3rd, 169 for 4th etc.)
4) We also have the Devon series which covers the races at Teignmouth and Plymouth. Again all races count and the points are the 10% reduction system.
5) The Duckhams Trophy is awarded to the team that acrues most points from all the National races. There is only one trophy, so any team from the three classes can win it.
I hope this clarifies the situation, if anyone is still unsure then please contact me by either Email or phone and I will try to clarify. I keep the tables updated after every meeting but as you can appreciate this takes time, especially with 3 classes and 5 championships running concurrently! Chris then has to feed this onto the website, so please be patient. If anyone requires a table for their class, in any of the above championships, then please get in touch.
Regards,
Ian.
