Subject: Congratulations

Well done to John Young & Teena Mitchell and John Bunyan & Matt Humby for setting new National Endurance records on Windermere on 26 October. Again OCR had the largest contingent and proved themselves very professional in their approach. Congratulations to Charles Ingledew and his brother George who took the OCR "A" line honours, but just failed to beat the existing record. They had a terrific battle with Gavin Hanks and also with Rob McCarthy which was very exciting to see. Sympathies go out to Gavin who blew up his engine. Derek Basham finished 2nd overall running a 2.5 on his 18, even after spitting Rob Perry out into the very cold lake when he hooked on the turn buoy! John Youngs` fuel judgement was excellent as he ran out 100yds past the chequered flag and lady luck was certainly on John Bunyans side as he ran the last 1.5 hrs with his engine saddle snapped in half! What a brilliant achievement and it just goes to prove that in OCR, giving up is not an option!
